これまでの分析からわかるように、利益率が低下した原因は、円高以外には、過大な設備と間接部門を売上高の減少に対応して圧縮できていないことだ。したがって、処方箋は、次のようにならざるをえない。

まず第一に、間接部門の費用を削減する必要がある。販売費・一般管理費は、95年以降、四半期でほぼ16～17兆円のオーダーで推移してきた。経済危機後の売上高激減のなかで、これは15.5兆円ほどにまで圧縮された。しかし、減少率は1割にもならない。いまだに、「頭でっかち」あるいは「贅肉」と言わざるをえない構造を抱えているといえる。この圧縮が重要な課題だ。

次に、減価償却費率を4％から3％に低下させる必要がある。このためには、減価償却費を4分の1ほど減少させる必要がある。つまり、現在の設備の約4分の1を廃棄する必要がある。これは、きわめて困難な課題だが、過大な設備を抱えたままでは、利益率の回復は望めない。

最近ヒットを飛ばす野口悠紀雄氏の連載であるが、今回も説得力がある。

法人企業統計から読むことができる、現在企業の経常利益が低い理由は、0. 売上の低下、1. 円高、2. 人件費の高止まり特に間接部門の余剰、3.売上に対する減価償却費比率の上昇、だそうだ。この理由をみれば分かるけれど、0, 1をすぐに対応するのは難しいけれど、2や3はすぐに対策ができるよね。
